Sumitomo QuaPro-R Electric Reach Forklift
Sumitomo QuaPro-R is an electric reach-truck series for pallet stacking and retrieval in racking aisles and high-density Singapore warehouse layouts.
- Official model classes: 0.9 to 1.8 tonnes, with the 0.9 tonne class marked Japan only.
- Confirm clear aisle, pallet, rack, lift height, residual capacity, floor, battery and charger.
- The published 2,540 mm aisle figure is for the FBR15SC reference model, not a site-fit guarantee.
Quick Selection Notes
- Use this when: Pallets must be stacked and retrieved in racking aisles where right-angle approach, lift height and storage density govern the vehicle choice.
- User perspective: The operator needs controlled inching, clear mast and load visibility, enough residual capacity at height and predictable clearance through every turn.
- Check before ordering: Confirm pallet entry, maximum load, load centre, highest beam, rack and sprinkler clearance, measured aisle, floor flatness, battery route and charger location.
- Site fit: Measure the clear aisle and right-angle stacking path with the actual pallet, rack geometry and safety allowance. A published manufacturer figure is not a site clearance.
- Ask Y K Toh to confirm: Send the rack layout, beam heights, pallet data, aisle measurements, route photos and daily duty so the exact reach-truck configuration can be checked.
Reach-truck selection for racking aisles
QuaPro-R is Sumitomo’s battery reach-truck route for pallet stacking and retrieval in high-density warehouse layouts. Its reach mechanism and turning controls address work between racks. It is not the default choice for dock work, rough external surfaces or mixed outdoor routes, where a counterbalance format may be more suitable.

Best-fit applications and routes
- Racking aisle stackingUse the measured clear aisle, pallet overhang, right-angle approach and rack-face clearance.
- High-lift retrievalConfirm residual capacity at the required height, mast type, lowered height, free lift and overhead restrictions.
- High-density storage layoutsReview aisle width together with junctions, staging zones, end-of-aisle turns and pedestrian separation.
- Controlled indoor floorsRecord flatness, joints, thresholds and gradients because floor condition affects stability, ride and precise pallet placement.
Capacity and model classes
Sumitomo’s current product page lists QuaPro-R in 0.9, 1.0, 1.25, 1.35, 1.5 and 1.8 tonne classes, with front and side battery-removal routes. The 0.9 tonne class is marked Japan only on that page.
The linked English specification brochure is dated 2011 and tables 1.0 to 1.8 tonne variants. Use it as a model-reference document only. Confirm the current model code, mast, battery, load centre and Singapore availability before quotation.

Operating and design features
- AWC turning controlLoading and turning modes adjust the steering geometry for right-angle stacking or a tighter on-the-spot turn.
- IPM drive motorSumitomo describes a compact high-efficiency drive motor for the series.
- AC load-handling motorThe official page links the AC motor and control changes to loading inching and reduced brush and contactor maintenance.
- Travel inchingAcceleration characteristics are designed to support both quick response and fine low-speed movement.
- Load-handling inchingThe low-speed lift-valve range and motor-start control were revised for precise fork movement.
- Reach-truck route planningRack geometry, pallet orientation and floor condition remain part of every configuration decision.

Visibility, access and operator comfort
Sumitomo describes a rounded surround cockpit, hooded display, lower floor and low-vibration suspension system. The floor is stated as 250 mm, 45 mm lower than the previous model. Back support and high-back support are shown as options. Confirm the operator layout and visibility with the selected mast, carriage, load and any attachment.

Battery and charging choices
Battery-removal route
The current official page documents front and side battery-removal configurations across the listed classes. The older linked brochure also shows multiple 48 V battery capacities by model. Final battery capacity, removal method and duty coverage must match the exact truck.
Chemistry and charger
The current 0.9 to 1.8 tonne official page does not establish lithium-ion as standard for every configuration. Confirm battery chemistry, charger, electrical supply, charging window, ventilation and Singapore availability before quotation.
Safety equipment and options to discuss
| Official-page status | Examples | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Series equipment described | Elbow guard, turning-speed control, slope speed limit, anti-rollback and travel/load-handling interlock. | Exact model coverage, settings, operating procedure and site controls. |
| Listed as optional | Front-wheel brake anti-skid and traction-control set, LED lighting, carriage light, safety laser, back support and high-back support. | Model compatibility, local availability, viewing area, site risk and operator training. |
No assistance feature replaces measured rack clearance, pedestrian segregation, speed rules, operator training, daily checks or safe pallet condition.

How to read the manufacturer figures
| Manufacturer figure | Qualification | Use in selection |
|---|---|---|
| 2,540 mm practical right-angle stacking aisle | Current Sumitomo page, FBR15SC reference model. The older linked brochure uses different aisle definitions and pallet-width tables. | Do not use as a site guarantee. Recalculate for the exact truck, pallet, rack, mast and clearance allowance. |
| 24% lower power consumption | FBR15SC versus Sumitomo’s previous model under the stated JIS D6202:2011 work-cycle test. The page separately states 25% for FBR15S. | Manufacturer comparison only, not a promised saving for a Singapore duty cycle. |
| About two hours longer operating time | FBR15SC versus the previous model under the stated JIS work-cycle comparison. | Actual coverage depends on battery, load, travel, lift work, floor, temperature and charging practice. |
| 250 mm floor height | Sumitomo states 45 mm lower than its previous model. | An access and ergonomics reference, to be checked by the operators who will use the truck. |
Practical selection table
| Selection point | What to record | Why it changes the reach truck |
|---|---|---|
| Pallet and load | Weight, load centre, pallet dimensions, entry direction and overhang. | Sets rated and residual-capacity needs and changes the stacking path. |
| Rack and lift | Beam heights, highest fork level, rack depth, flue space and overhead limits. | Determines mast, lift height, clearance and capacity at height. |
| Aisle | Clear width at the narrowest point, rack faces, guards, columns and end turns. | Determines right-angle stacking fit and usable operating clearance. |
| Floor | Flatness, joints, thresholds, gradients and damaged areas. | Affects stability, vibration and accurate pallet placement. |
| Duty and charging | Hours, moves, travel distance, lift cycles, breaks and electrical supply. | Shapes the battery, charger and shift-coverage plan. |

Frequently asked questions
Does 2,540 mm mean the reach truck will fit my aisle?
No. That is a manufacturer reference for the FBR15SC under its stated conditions. Site fit changes with model, pallet, rack, mast, turning path and the required safety allowance.
Which capacity class should I choose?
Start with maximum load, load centre, pallet and lift height. Residual capacity at the highest placement point is more important than the nominal class alone.
Is lithium-ion standard on QuaPro-R?
The current official 0.9 to 1.8 tonne page does not prove lithium-ion as standard across the range. Confirm battery chemistry, capacity, removal method, charger and local availability for the exact model.
Can QuaPro-R be used at loading docks?
QuaPro-R is primarily a racking-aisle reach truck. If the route includes docks, ramps, rough surfaces or outdoor work, compare the site with a counterbalance format such as Sumitomo QuaPro-B.
What must be measured before a site visit?
Record the narrowest clear aisle, rack faces, columns, pallet size, highest beam, overhead clearance, floor condition and every turn between staging and storage.
